PROJECT NEPAL aims to do a first build of 20-30 structures (homes/schools) in earthquake affected areas around the Kathmandu Valley. Initial field assessment shows that the cost of building in Nepal will be around $200.00 - $245.00 per square meter. While building isn't a challenge, area of build can be a challenge in Nepal with multi-storey buildings of different dimensions owned by multiple owners. Based on this, an area of 500 sq. ft or 46.45 sq. m will cost around $9,000.00 - $11,500.00 to build. Depending on the money raised, available area for build, and permission from the owners of the property, we shall decide on the size and plan of the build to be constructed.

We shall share the details with all our donors so you know where the money is being spent. For purposes of ensuring that the project be completed successfully on the ground, we will hire local resources to oversee the execution. In addition to this, we also hope to bring in the community we’ll be helping to learn how to construct their houses using the technology to be deployed. If we are successful in doing so, we hope to reduce the cost of construction in time and try and move the community towards a self-building project.
